About This Calendar - NEW for 2024!

How do we think about life?

That’s not an easy question to answer! There are so many opinions about life and its value in our world today. But what should be “top of mind” for Christians is what God thinks about and has to say about life, and to align our thinking with His.

To that end, we offer our Lenten Life Calendar this year, that all we think, say, and do with regard to life be godly and Scriptural. Each week will help you think about a different view of life that is prevalent in our world today and each day will offer a Scripture and prayer toward that end. We pray this will be beneficial to you in your growth as a Christian, and for your Lenten discipline.

To learn more about the classic Lenten disciplines of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, click on the "About the Lenten Disciplines" tab. And if you would like to make a donation of Lenten alms, we encourage you to consider the charities we will be supporting this year. Click on the "About Our Charities" tab to learn more.

Suggestion for How to Use This Calendar

There is no right or wrong way to use this calendar. This is only a suggestion . . .

(1.) Read the verse(s) assigned in the morning, along with the short prayer.

(2.) Try to keep this verse and prayer in mind throughout the day.

(3.) If a hymn is recommended, pay special attention to the words!

(4.) If you need help, try writing these short verses on an index card or a small piece of paper so you can have them with you and read them throughout the day.

(5.) If you are ambitious, try memorizing the verse for the day!

(6.) Pray at the end of the day, adding your own thoughts to the prayer, including those you thought about during the day and their needs, as well as your own needs.

(7.) If your heart is so moved, consider making a special Lenten gift to the charities we have chosen for this year, or another of your own choosing.

(8.) Have your children read and pray with you, and do the suggestions for each week so they can be involved too!
