Tuesday of Lent 2, March 7

Parents are important. Children need both fathers and mothers. They're not the same or interchangeable. God made us wonderfully different.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.  ~ Exodus 20:12

Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching,  ~ Proverbs 1:8

Dear Jesus, help me honor my father and mother. Give every child both a father and a mother. And help all fathers and mothers fulfill their important callings for their children. Amen.

Activity #1: Encourage a father and mother. If you're a child, tell your Mom and Dad that you love them and appreciate them (and forgive them when they mess up!). If you're grown, encourage a neighbor or someone at church.

Activity #2: It's hard being a mother and father! Can you offer to help? A little break goes a long way!

Activity #3: Pray for the fathers and mothers you know or who are in your church.
