What about euthanasia (mercy killing)? What if someone has great suffering? Isn't that better than allowing them to suffer?

There is certainly no small amount of suffering in our world today, but God can use suffering to accomplish good! God can use suffering to save a life for eternity. To end a life this way may seem good, or merciful, to us, but better is to love that person who is suffering and direct them to Jesus instead of death for help.

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.  ~ Romans 8:18

. . . that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.  ~ 1 Corinthians 12:25-26

ACTIVITY: Do you know someone who is suffering? How can you help them? How can you encourage them?

PRAY that the Lord would use suffering to accomplish His good and gracious purposes, and that the practice of euthanasia would come to an end.

Dear Jesus, help those who are suffering in their distress. Ease their pain and by Your Spirit enable them to look to You for their help and hope. Open my heart to help others who are suffering and be Your blessing to them. Amen.
