Wednesday of Lent 5, March 29

One of the saddest losses is when babies die before they are born, miscarriages or stillbirths.

The sin in our world is so devastating! Even reaching into the womb. Many parents know this grief. The baby they never met yet love and cherish they will never be able to hold. They may feel alone or invisible or even ashamed and carry this sadness by themselves, adding to the burden. But you are not alone! The Church mourns with you. Jesus mourns with you. These are little boys and girls He died for.

Jesus loves children! Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.  ~ Mark 10:14

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.  ~ Psalm 46:1

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.  ~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

ACTIVITY: Do you know someone who suffered a miscarriage or stillbirth? Send them a card and let them know you share their grief.

PRAY for pregnant women, that the Lord would watch over them and give them and their babies health and strength.

Dear Jesus, when joy is turned to sadness, comfort those in the depth of grief. Strengthen our faith and help us look to You not for answers but for the mercy and love we need. Gather these little boys and girls into Your arms and give them the life with You that they did not receive here. Amen.
